This natural wonder is a perfect location for a timeless, romantic, and elegant photoshoot — and recently, I had the joy of capturing a beautiful couple there during their honeymoon.

A Honeymoon Love Story in the Dunes

The couple had just gotten married and chose Gran Canaria as their honeymoon destination. They reached out to me because they wanted a love story photo session that felt stylish, natural, and full of connection. From the beginning, we clicked.

Before the shoot, we had a planning call to discuss ideas and styling. As always, I created a moodboard to visually guide the feel of the shoot — something soft, cinematic, and emotional. This gave them a clear idea of the atmosphere we wanted to capture, while still allowing space for spontaneity.

Thoughtful Styling That Matched the Landscape

For their outfits, the couple made excellent choices. She wore an elegant white dress that flowed with the wind, and he wore a pale blue shirt with white trousers. They were barefoot. These colors looked absolutely stunning against the yellow sand and bright blue sky. The contrast was soft and dreamy — just what you want in elegant and timeless style couple portraits.

We met around 5:00 PM, about an hour before sunset. The light at that time is warm and low, casting soft shadows and golden highlights. It’s the perfect time to shoot in the dunes if you want great result.

Shooting with Flow and Natural Emotion

We started the session casually, taking a relaxed walk through the dunes. I photographed them naturally as they interacted — holding hands, dancing, hugging each other. I gave gentle direction when needed, but mostly let them enjoy the moment together.

Because of our prep work, they already knew what to expect. The moodboard helped build confidence and clarity, so we could focus on emotion rather than worrying about poses.

• Bring extra layers: Yes, even in Gran Canaria, it can get chilly. Especially near the ocean at the end of the day.

My couple ended up a bit cold at the end of the session because the wind picked up — but we used it to our advantage and finished the shoot with some beautiful ocean-side portraits full of motion and emotion.
