I’m a photographer based in Gran Canaria, and while I often shoot soft portraits on the beach, I also offer something a little different — photo walks. These are relaxed, movement-based sessions where we explore beautiful locations together and capture natural, unposed moments along the way.

Why Tejeda Works for a Photo Walk

Tejeda is a small mountain village right in the center of Gran Canaria. It’s popular with hikers — and for good reason. The views here are insane: dramatic peaks, layered mountain ridges, wide open skies, and cactus plants the size of trees. You get a total change of scenery from the coastal areas.

The village itself is clean, calm, and full of little streets, viewpoints, and traditional Canarian-style houses — but with modern edges. Think white walls, wood shutters, stone paths, and pops of color from flowering plants.

If you’re into exploring, walking, and being outside, it’s the perfect location for a shoot that doesn’t feel like a “photoshoot.”

• ☕ Drink coffee with a mountain view. Start your visit with a coffee on a terrace overlooking the valleys and cliffs. The air is cooler, the light is softer, and the views? Unreal.

• 🌸 Walk through flower-lined village streets. The narrow paths of Tejeda are filled with charm: flower pots on windowsills, tiled walkways, and quiet corners perfect for a photo.

• 🏡 Photograph the traditional Canarian houses. The architecture here is classic — white walls, wooden balconies, and stone detailing. If you're a visual person, you’ll want to stop at every corner.

• 🥾 Take a photo walk through the trails. As a photographer, I love using Tejeda as a location for relaxed, movement-based photo walks. It’s all about light, texture, and being present.

• 🧺 Have a picnic with a view. Find a quiet bench or shady tree and enjoy a peaceful snack surrounded by mountains and silence.

• 🧡 Watch the clouds move through the valley. Even just sitting in stillness here is an experience. The way the clouds drift through the cliffs feels like therapy.

How to Get There

Tejeda is about 1.5 hours from Las Palmas by car. The drive itself is worth it: winding mountain roads, cliffs, and lookout points. You can easily combine the trip with a stop at Roque Nublo, Cruz de Tejeda, or grab coffee and almond pastries in the village after your session.
